The fact that the main building was so old - dating from Henry VIII time- andyou were free to roam from room to room.
The meals were very good but overpriced.

Location is excellent, atmosphere, amenities.
The staff wasn't very nice, especially at the restaurant at breakfast, it's like you're not all busy and can't serve you.

Loved our weekend stay at the Lygon Arms. It was the perfect base for celebrating our anniversary. - the room with rear views was extremely pleasant and had a terrace, a lounge area, and coffee.

The staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough to help.
The hotel is tired. We were looking forward to our meal in the Great Room but sadly the food was very disappointing. Our steak was tasteless and the gourmet dinner came with oil drenched onion rings. The decor in the room was very poor. Breakfast wasn't good either. The tea arrived cold. The English breakfast wasnt pleasing on the eyes and was also cold. The sausage for example had a line of congealed fat along it's edge where it had been precooked and was then warmed insufficiently to dissolve the fatty residue. The wrong food was brought to our table initially too. The room was comfortable but was let down by some minor problems (blocked sink and bath, poor water flow to bath) that really would take little effort to correct. The staff are on an up hill struggle and really deserve a medal for the excellent service they provide. Management, sort yourselves out!

The comfort and quietness of the room was probably the aspects I enjoyed most during our short stay
Car parking was difficult before 5.30pm when I suspect the unautherised parkers went home
